Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival
We will pick you up from the LGBI airport at the said time and then take you directly to Shillong. On the way there, we will stop by at the Umiam Lake, to enjoy the picturesque view of the lake. Meghalaya is mostly famous in the world for its beautiful weather. For the awesome behaviour of its weather where one moment it is drizzling rain and the other moment it is sunshine, it is called as “the Scotland of the East”. The green hills with the pines, the cold breeze with the whistling sound and the great weather makes it a favourite destination for millions of people from the world. The stay for the night will be at Shillong.
Day 2
Shillong Sight Seeing
The next day will be a sightseeing day of the city and the outskirts. The attractive destinations in the city are the Wards Lake, the Elephant falls, Lady Hydari Park, and Don Bosco Museum. The night’s stay will be at Shillong.
Day 3
Mawlynnong to Cherrapunji
The next morning we will head out towards Mawlynnong, which is known as the cleanest village in Asia. Mawlynnong also has a living root bridge which is a wonder of the nature. The bridge is constructed by the roots of trees over the time of a century. After checking them out, we will go to Dawki – a town situated at the India-Bangladesh border and famous for the boating on Umngot River and the Dawki Suspension bridge (constructed by British in 1932). Then we will head towards Cherrapunji for the exciting trekking of the place. We will stay in Cherrapunji for the night.
Day 4
Trekking
The next day will be a fun day for trekkers. The complete trekking will be of approximately 8 to 10 kilometres estimated to cover in a time period of 8 hours. The trekking will include the hiking of the Khasi hills, trekking to the living root bridge of Umunoi, trekking to the double decker root bridge, trekking to Umkar root bridges and walking through the villages. The stay will be at Cherrapunji.
Day 5
Sight Seeing
The next day will be for the local sightseeing of the places around Cherrapunji. The notable places are the Mawsmai caves, the Nohkalikai falls, the Seven Sister falls, the living root bridges in the area and the local villages of Cherrapunji. Also, the tasty local cuisines of Khasi hills are worth a try. We will stay for the night at Cherrapunji.
Day 6
To Guwahati
We will take you to Guwahati and drop you at the airport at the said time. If we have enough time in our hand, we can also visit the local places of Guwahati city. Guwahati is a beautiful city and is famous for the Kamakhya temple, the mighty river Brahmaputra, Umananda island and of course, the delicious fish cuisines of Assam.
